What is the issue?
Currently, UTEP has the highest prices for ADA parking permits of any UT system campus. We believe this creates a barrier and unfair burden for disabled employees and students trying to access the parking spots they need.
What are our demands?
Though this fight started in El Paso, we have expanded our demands to include all UT System schools.
We are demanding free ADA parking for disabled students and employees across ALL UT System schools.
What has been done about this?
Our coalition has previously worked with university administrators, collected nearly 2000 signatures on a public-facing petition to the university President, garnered local and state media attention, and received the support of elected officials including State Senator Cesar Blanco and State Representative Lina Ortega.
